Step by step
- You call. The line is open 24/7. You will be asked a few questions: your ZIP code, what happened, whether water is still running, and roughly how much is wet.
- You are connected. Your call is answered by, or passed to, a participating restoration company that covers your ZIP code. If no company is available for your area, you will be told.
- You decide. The company explains when it can come out, what the first visit involves and how it prices work. Ask for a written estimate. Hiring is entirely your choice.
What to ask on the call
- When can a crew arrive, and is there a call-out or inspection fee?
- Are your technicians IICRC certified, and are you licensed and insured where required?
- Will you give me a written estimate and itemized invoices for my insurer?
- How will you measure when everything is dry?
- Can you work directly with my insurance company? (Read any assignment of benefits form carefully before signing.)
Who the companies are
The companies you are connected with are independent businesses. They set their own prices and are responsible for their own work, licensing, insurance and conduct. We cannot guarantee their availability, arrival times or results. Before work starts, check reviews and certifications yourself: our guide to choosing a water damage company covers what to check.
Emergencies
If anyone is hurt or in danger, call 911. If you smell gas, leave the building and call your gas utility from outside. If water is near your electrical panel, keep away and call an electrician or your utility.
